Sub Machine

WHO?

Indie-Rock / Art-Rock / Electro-Rock: always pushing boundaries.

Sub Machine is primarily the work of Mark Day, a multi-instrumentalist and composer based in Sheffield, UK. The debut album "a message from your future self" was released in 2019, to big acclaim and small streaming numbers. It was an eclectic mix, possibly a little too varied - as one DJ said " I could play all ten of these tracks on my show, and everyone would think we had 10 different bands!"

The follow up EP "Queen of Sunshine, King of Moon", released in 2021, aimed to explore a more minimalist and electronic landscape. Pushing further along those lines, Mark Day created an album under a new persona - EMDY - which was completed in 2024 and released in 2025.

Meanwhile, Sub Machine continues to gig occasionally - most notably headlining Sheffield's iconic Leadmill in 2022 - and to release a few carefully selected singles.
